Several summers ago, while volunteering in the gardens at ShakerVillage, in Canterbury NH, I met Betsy. who taught me how to make soap, using a Shaker recipe, with vegetable-based oils.

I've expanded my line of soap varieties over the years and now also make soaps using local animal products. I purchase lard and goat milk from local farms, beef tallow from Miles Smith Farm and sheep tallow from other farms. I started making pine tar soap at the request of Hope, another soap-making friend, for her son's skin disorders. I purchase the pine tar from a Tack shop in Boscawen, NH.
